3-16-21 THOUGHTS

Peter’s life is toward its end as he REMINDS the saints of some things they will need to overcome.  Go back and read the first words of this chapter.  They are most powerful!  He then notes the need for DILIGENCE!   Right life requires effort.   “And if the righteous scarcely be saved...” [1Pe 4:18].  We want to make our eternal home sure!  We can if we will.
Peter then gives us some elements to help our success.  He uses two words...  “KNOW” and “REMIND”.  We have the PLACEMENT OF INFORMATION, and the RECALL/REMINDER issue.  REPETITION of ESSENTIAL LEARNING is part of the process. ESTABLISHMENT is the desire.   Then he says “TO STIR YOU UP BY WAY OF REMINDER”!  Put that together with the diligence word and we see God’s desire that our lives would be POWERFUL and ALIVE!  Peter wanted them to have the process down, so that after he was gone, the INFORMATION ESSENTIAL TO ETERNAL LIFE WOULD REMAIN!
Peter has described the job of any preacher.  I love you all.

2Pet 1:10-15    Therefore, brethren, be all the more diligent to make certain about His calling and choosing you; for as long as you practice these things, you will never stumble;  11  for in this way the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be abundantly supplied to you. 12  Therefore, I will always be ready to remind you of these things, even though you already know them, and have been established in the truth which is present with you. 13  I consider it right, as long as I am in this earthly dwelling, to stir you up by way of reminder, 14  knowing that the laying aside of my earthly dwelling is imminent, as also our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me. 15  And I will also be diligent that at any time after my departure you will be able to call these things to mind.

My Prayer:
We praise your great name O most high God.  Help us to busy ourselves with the eternal things that matter.  Stir us O Lord and remind us always of who we belong to.  Teach us to practice things from You that matter.  Establish us, O God, in your ways.   In Jesus we pray always    Amen
